I’m Chris Salt, a Burnout Specialist, Coaching Psychologist, and Entrepreneur. Burnout Wellness was born from my own journey through burnout and the drive to support others in finding lasting solutions, not just temporary relief. Here, I focus on empowering you to make transformative changes that last. I am passionate about helping individuals move beyond burnout to live with renewed purpose, vitality, and meaning.

Having personally experienced burnout twice during my career, I understand implicitly the toll it can take on every aspect of life, professionally, emotionally, and physically. My first episode followed almost 20 years of 24/7 on-call work in mental health nursing, which was so severe it necessitated a complete career change. The second (and to a lesser degree than the first) came whilst working in the construction industry and during an expensive and gruelling legal battle in three jurisdictions which lasted over 4 years after the 2008 financial crash,  Each experience taught me resilience, self-compassion, and the skills needed to rebuild my life, and I am deeply committed to guiding others on their own journeys to recovery and thriving through these experiences. My mission is clear: to support individuals, like you, in reclaiming your lives, health, and energy which I have done myself quite adeptly, and I will share with you the skills required to do this within your own unique situation.

My journey

From Mental Health Nursing to International Burnout Specialist

With a 28-year background as a mental health nurse in the UK, compassion and empathy form the core of my approach. My professional journey has taken me across multiple industries and continents, from mental health to construction, where I served as CEO of a company in Barbados. There, we were awarded the prestigious “Best Apartment in the World” by the International Property Awards in 2009. I also spent five years running a successful concierge business in Naples, Florida, which deepened my understanding of service and client needs. Today, I divide my time between the UK, where I support clients across various industries, and Portugal, where I run a specialized burnout retreat.

At Burnout Wellness, my approach is simple yet deeply effective: address the underlying causes of burnout, not just the symptoms. Burnout isn’t something to “push through.” Instead, it’s a signal that life’s balance has shifted and needs realignment. Having coached many people specifically struggling with burnout in their respective professions including medical staff, professional sports people, corporate executives, entrepreneurs, teachers, PhD students and informal carers, I have discovered that each person´s burnout is completely unique and I deliver interventions and strategies with this in mind, teaching you specific new skills which will address your bespoke and distinctive challenges.
